What Does it Mean to Have a Heart Like David?

I love the stories in the Bible about King David. I am intrigued about the passage that stated that the LORD looked for someone with His own heart and that person was David. It makes me want to know about the heart of King David. Can I have a heart like David, “after God’s own heart,” or is that something that was inherent in, and specific to David?
