When I was a kid my Dad was shocked to hear a preacher say “there is no hell.” Recently Pope Francis has made the same declaration. Others are saying that hell is a temporary situation and that, like purgatory, you can eventually be released from torment; that the Old Testament doesn’t support an eternal torment for the unrepentant. Is it really that complicated? Why is there so much confusion? Is the “Lake of Fire” just a temporary correction?
