Jon Klein made a clarifying comment about the relationship between Israel and the United States. Here's the paraphrase:
As far as a natural relationship with Israel, the United States perhaps treats Israel like they would any other Western nation, providing it with physical aid. But in the spiritual world, there is no nation more dangerous to Israel than the United States. Iran is open in its enmity toward Israel and in its desire to destroy Israel. The United States plays the friend and looks like a friend in the natural but the price of that friendship is too high: the United States does everything it can to cut the heart of the nation of Israel. Judea and Samaria, including and especially Jerusalem, is the very heart of Israel and its destiny. It is Judea and Samaria that the United States and other nations of the world incessantly seek to wrestle out of Jewish control.
Caroline Click provides some rationales for Obama's war on Israel. In her latest post, she supposes that there could be US troops in Judea and Samaria in the next few years:
Likewise, the crisis Obama has manufactured with Israel could pave the way for him to recognize a Palestinian state if the Palestinians follow through on their threat to unilaterally declare statehood next year regardless of the status of negotiations with Israel. Such a US move could in turn lead to the deployment of US forces in Judea and Samaria to "protect" the unilaterally declared Palestinian state from Israel.
